Due to the school closure on Monday March 28, 2022, there will be a change in our previously scheduled state tests for grades 3-5.

Dear Parents and Guardians, Due to a water main break, the Village of Fort Ann has scheduled maintenance on the village water main on Monday, March 28, 2022. Due to this scheduled maintenance, there will be no running water on campus and therefore our school building will be closed. The district will treat this day like we would a “snow day” and there will be no virtual learning. Students and staff will be expected to return to school on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The following letter was written to Governor Hochul and Commissioner Bassett on behalf of the 31 School Districts of the WSWHE BOCES.

In light of the recent feedback the district has received from families regarding school advocacy on state regulations and mandates, we will be hosting an open discussion on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 4:30 pm.

On February 17, 2022, the Fort Ann Board of Education wrote the following letter to Governor Hochul and Commissioner Bassett.

Hello, this is Justin Hoskins with the Fort Ann Central School District. I wanted to take a quick moment of your time to provide you with a couple of updates.

The Fort Ann team would like to give a big shout to Kristin Casey, Candice Spooner, Ashley LaVine and John Woodell-Freire! Thank you for all you do each and every day for ALL of us!

First, I want to take a moment and thank the Fort Ann community for their continued partnership throughout this period of pandemic; especially, during this incredibly challenging and confusing week. There has been a great deal of information being circulated throughout the state and it can be difficult to decipher; I want to thank our community for continuing to work with, and trust, the district.

In speaking with our families, the consistent message we receive is how they need to get back to normal. Frankly, they need more consistency from their schools. Therefore, we are asking the state to consider working with school leaders to develop a “Pathway to Normalcy.”

One of our favorite Fort Ann traditions is sharing our Grade 2 penguin research projects. Students each present their research on over 19 different types of penguins and share their handmade projects and dioramas with their class.

It is SED’s understanding that the DOH will appeal the recent Nassau County Supreme Court decision and schools must continue to follow the mask rule.

Good morning, this is Justin Hoskins with the Fort Ann Central School District with an important message regarding the district’s response to the COVID 19 pandemic.

The Fort Ann Central School District would first and foremost like to send warm wishes to you over the holiday break. As we look towards the new year, we have a few items to share regarding structural changes in our administration team.

As a result of a critical shortage of teachers/substitute teachers, students in grades 6-12 will pivot to remote instruction on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, through the holiday break.

It has come to our attention that a recent trend on TikTok wherein posts/videos discussing school shootings or a potential “school shooting day” have been circulating among students in our area and around the country.

A message from Washington County...The 12/3/21 Vaccination Clinic is open to all age-eligible youth (ages 5-11, 12-17) and will feature the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Registration is required and can be completed at one of the links below.

After consulting with the Washington County Public Health Department, the District has decided to switch to virtual learning on Friday, November 19, Monday, November 22, and Tuesday, November 23, 2021, to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and the cold and flu in our school.

This survey will provide information on student access to devices and internet access in their places of residence. To assist us in this process, please answer each question below and follow any additional instructions provided for submitting or returning the survey.

UPDATED WASHINGTON CO VAX EVENTS FOR NOVEMBER Our Washington County, NY Public Health Department is proud to continue community vaccination events to provide increased community access to the COVID-19 vaccine closer to home!

New York State is seeking parents of students with disabilities to participate in virtual special education State Performance Plan Stakeholder Engagement Meetings to discuss New York State's performance targets and improvement activities for implementing the requirements and purposes of the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act.

The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund is up and running and proud to announce our Tenth Baskets for Ben fundraiser to be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Queensbury Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6196, 132 Luzerne Road, Queensbury, NY from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

The Fort Ann Central School District Board of Education is pleased to announce its intent to appoint Justin Hoskins as Superintendent of Schools at the next regular meeting of the Board of Education on August 10, 2021.

As you might imagine, as of this point in the summer, school districts are in the process of completing their plans to return to school in the fall of 2021. With that being said, there are still a number of questions that exist and guidance from the New York State Department of Health is critical to ensure that we are able to fulfill our mission to the children and families we serve.

Bring the whole family to this back-to-school community event. Get FREE back-to-school necessities for all grade levels! No need to pre-register or be from a certain school district - this event is open to everyone!

We are conducting a survey to evaluate the technology needs of our students. The survey results will help the district obtain additional funding and resources to continue efforts to ensure that all students have access to resources to allow remote instruction and homework to be completed at home.

Starting Tuesday, June 8, all Fort Ann Central School District students and staff, regardless of vaccination status, will no longer be required to wear a mask outside on school grounds; this includes outdoor school sports as well.

It is our honor to announce that Elizabeth Larli has been named a 2021 Post Star Teen Excellence Award Honoree!

Today, the District learned that an individual in the Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual will have to quarantine and be cleared by the Department of Health before returning to school.

As a result of CDC and DOH guideline changes, all students, staff, and visitors will be required to wear masks at all times (except when eating meals, snacks, or drinking) while in the classroom setting and non-classroom settings effective April 15th.

The Fort Ann Central School District welcomes the public, businesses, and my cousin’s uncle’s dog groomer’s daughter to the auction of two gently used school buses.

We are excited to announce that we will be selling discount cards to support our school-centered activities! SALE ENDS MARCH 22! CARDS ARE $10 EACH.

In February, the Elementary School celebrated Active Schools Month. Teachers across the country participated with us in "Active Classrooms Month" by showcasing ways they integrate physical activity into learning and highlighting the positive impact movement has on young people.

The District has decided to opt-out of high-risk sports. However, we will be providing new opportunities for Middle School and High School students to participate in after-school athletics and extracurriculars.

Grades 6-12 will transition to our remote learning model on Friday, February 12. The Jr/Sr High School will resume in-person instruction on Monday, February 22, 2021.

Message from the Washington County Department of Health: Following last Friday's updates to the "Interim Guidance for Sports and Recreation During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency" the state placed local health departments in the position of having to permit or allow these sports to proceed.

We have answered some frequently asked questions regarding the mandated COVID-19 testing of 20% of our school population, should we reach a 'Yellow Zone."

The district is preemptively seeking your permission to have your child tested for COVID-19, should we become a “Yellow Zone.” Attached to this letter is a consent to test form and we are asking that you please complete and return the form to school with your child.

This winter, the Fort Ann Central School District has made the decision to opt for traditional snow days, especially during this very untraditional school year.
