BASKETS FOR BEN benefits the BEN OSBORN MEMORIAL FUND, a regional non-profit 501 C3 organization which was created in loving memory of our CPL Benjamin D. Osborn  of Queensbury.   Ben was killed during combat operations in  Kunar Province, Afghanistan on June 15th, 2010 while  serving in  the United States Army during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Ben’s Fund supports children with need in conjunction with over 60 schools in Warren,  Washington, Saratoga and Essex Counties by providing purchased goods and services including electronics, clothing, bedding, food, tutoring, school supplies, eyeglasses, transportation costs, field trip admission expenses, etc.  Additionally, the Fund awards 20 scholarships to qualifying graduating seniors from ten local school districts.  We also donate household and personal care items to 12 local food pantries.

Ben’s Fund has helped thousands of children.  At Christmas and Thanksgiving, Ben’s Fund adopts students, families and local organizations for gift giving, food and cheer.  During the 2019 holiday season, over $20,000 of food and gifts were donated to local children and families with need.  Additionally, we provide clothing changes, healthy snacks, blankets and head lice treatment kits to nurses at elementary schools.  We offer a literacy program for providing books to kids anytime and all the time through our 25 Ben’s Book Stations.  Our seventh initiative provides a 17-item Personal Hygiene Kit to emerging teens; to date over 1,500 Kits have been distributed to schools.

It is our mission and hope that the values of discipline and pride will be encouraged and passed on through Ben’s Legacy.  In honoring Ben Osborn, whose selfless sacrifice and service to our country has inspired us, we wish to help by “Giving  Kids a Little Lift.”  We welcome all and ask your help to continue our mission of helping local children with need.  We are a charitable 501 C3 organization with no administrative costs.
