Individuals Test Positive For COVID-19

Individuals Test Positive For COVID-19
Posted on 09/22/2021

Dear parents and guardians,

We would first and foremost like to share how wonderful it is to see all of our students back on campus for the 2021-22 school year. Our teachers, faculty, and staff have worked so hard to prepare for this school year we look forward to sharing positive updates as the year progresses.

Our students are excited to be back with their peers, and in some ways, despite our safety protocols, the school day feels a little bit more like pre-pandemic times. However, we must remind ourselves that our ability to keep schools open and running successfully will only be possible if we continue mitigating the spread of COVID-19.

Over the past few days, the district has encountered a handful of positive COVID-19 cases, in addition to several quarantines due to potential COVID-19 exposures. At this point, contact tracing for all cases have been completed, and there is no need for additional quarantines. We are sharing this information to provide clear and open communication with our district families and community.

To remain informed of the spread of COVID-19 in our schools, we will be updating you with any future positive COVID-19 cases as they occur. This information will be sent to you directly and can also be found on the “COVID RESPONSE PLANS & UPDATES 2021-22” page on the district website: www.fortannschool.org.

If you notice any of the common COVID-19 symptoms (fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea), then please do not come to school. We encourage everyone to speak to their physician or a local healthcare provider about getting a COVID-19 test, should symptoms arise.

As a reminder, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

We thank you for your patience as we remain optimistic in having a successful school year, with our students learning in-person, every day, safely. Please contact your child’s school office if you have any questions.
